It's a great idea! (Will never happen - the 'open movement' mechanics make it almost impossible to create an AI player.)
However, if you know a programmer up for the challenge, let admin team know.

Pros and cons of AI

pros: will fill games, will make up for the disconnected players, if they can wall could be an even match for some players

cons: since its a robot it will be as good as a R1, it wont RP or really make diplomatic relations with anything unless you add more code for that (this would be the easier part to code as you propbably would put a 50/50 chance of it accepting and declining the request and adding random responses to the AI for asking to ally or whatever), and finally these robots would be the thorn in the side of atwar programmers having to always keep them updated with every map (or the top 10-30 most used or liked maps) and then having to update them after every update to the game

end note: really bots would be great but for a game like AtWar but it would take a full fledged team of programmers to make the work as well as any player or to read maps and path find for units
