Can we just make a giant fleet and go after the pirates already..... it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know our legions can't swim into Carthage yet and just building up our fleet slowly each turn only eats away from income.

I would love to and frankly Phoenix had a point in that. We didn't do it, because Rome doesn't have the income to support it. The Sicilian pirates offer a great way of increasing income and lands by conquering them. Already Rome is close to going bankrupt. Sure we kill Carthage, but then what? We can't support a fleet and legions that big.
Maybe if we can sell legions, we could make a navy of 30 ships and crush carth and pirates sea force together, then sell most of the fleet and build legions and transport them in the remaining ships...can that be done?

the idea is you save all your cash until the turn you intend to attack, build everything at once to the brink of bankruptcy and invade the same turn, you will lose some units and take over a province that provides income to offset the extra costs....

I don't really see that working since it's what Leo did right now. Rome is on the verge of bankruptcy right now. No what I thought of is attacking to reduce Fleet numbers. Build 5 fleets and attack. They all die, but pirates lose ships. Next turn build more fleets and repeat. Course this only works if pirates can't attack you in turn.

we could have afforded 17 fleet this turn... enough to have a shot vs pirates.
if we spent nothing turn 1 and built everything possible turn 2, we could have afforded 12 legions and 12 fleets for t3, if pirates appeared we could have afforded another 5/6 fleets for this turn to attack them now successfully.

thats how you have to play this, its a maths game. figure out your accounts and costs and as soon as you can afford a successful attack... do it

You can't attack on the same turn as you build a fleet I don't think. You have to pay upkeep for that many armies and fleets for one turn which will outstrip our income.

Yeah I know.. You hold out until t2 to build... You have 192 to spend you make 12 navy and 7 legions (okay 11 not 12 in total, my bad) then expenses for turn 3 are 46.. Meaning Rome makes 54 income.. We could build a further 5 navy to build pirates if they showed up to kill them turn 4...

It works trust me.. Need consuls to do the math on this next time.

So i chose donate and a game has been done by stalin for this turn.

Im not sure which turn my hosted games was under so Im just going to "redo"/ make my turn here:
I accept bribe and will host games (Which is why I accepted the bribe)
I will spend three on a knight


For the Senate Phase: I suggest we pick Pheonixking929 and JF as the two new consuls.

I suggest the creation of 10 fleets and zero legions. These fleets will allow us to beat both the Carthagian Navy and the Pirates' navy.

As far as nominating a dictator, I think anyone could be elected because being so close to defeat, I think we're all aware of what has to be done

Guys we no longer need fucking Legions, Cilicians only have 4 Legions, make more ships

As I said before, make 10 fleets and no legions we need enough ships to destroy the carthagian and pirates' navies. We dont need legions right now because we are only doing naval battles at the moment. When we land, that's when we will purchase the legions.

Any proposal that includes the construction of legions will be vetoed by myself. I encourage others to do the same and pressure for the creation of only fleets at this time. My reccommended number was ten fleets
