Just an idea I had since I wanted to downvotes a comment but there wasn't an option for it...

I would describe it as counterproductive: prone to be trolled.

Downvotes will only encourage trolling. As stated before, if an objection to a forum post exists and is popular then the objection will be upvoted, removing the need for a downvote option.
