Leavers sanctions

*The main idea was here but this is a whole new one illustrated with better solutions.

Main points to be discussed:
1- Cancel Game.
2- The sanctions to be set against the leavers.
3- More ideas, rectifications.
4- Voting.

1- Cancel Game:

1.1) Creating the Cancel Game button and how it works:
The cancel game button will serve the players ingame to leave the game without being quitters, how? It will have the same concept as the "change game settings", when a player clicks on "Cancel Game" it will automatically send a warning in the next turn to all the players, for example "nightslasha proposed to Cancel this game". The rest of the players ingame will be able to choose whether to Cancel the game or to keep it running: The simple majority will decide (just like the change game settings feature).

1.2) Keeping the original Leave/Exit/Quit button:
Yes, there will be 3 buttons: Surrender, Leave/Exit/Quit and Cancel Game. Why should we keep the original button ? It will allow the leavers to leave instantly without closing the game/browser - There will be sanctions while you continue reading - Let's say one doesn't care about the sanctions so he presses Leave/Exit/Quit button. You might think it's useless I know, but keep in mind that Leavers will have to Alt+F4 their game/browser in order to stay away from sanctions so it's harder and might have to think twice.

1.3) Power shutdowns, internet and similar causes:
If you're wondering how will DCed players, or those who lost power and if the PC blocked/turned off, well the atWar staff should be able to limit the sanctions to the "Leave/Quit/Exit" button and to protect disconnected players from any sanctions.

1.4) I leave before I lose, what should I do?:
Losed games have been removed from the profile and now it shows the games you've left and not lost, so if you think leavers might be the players who don't like to "lose"/"surrender" it's now the abandoned percentage that shows your identity.. So no need to "Leave game" now and they will be protected from the sanctions..

2- The sanctions to be set against the leavers:

Well we all hate them, so I think any tough sanction would benefit us all. But here's some ideas:
- In scenarios, leavers lose SP or any hard sanction against them since scenarios need every nation/player to be present or the game isn't fair.
- In normal games, leavers have to wait for a period of 5-15 minutes or any period of time related to the time he spent in the game. What do I mean? If I've been playing for an hour and made a big empire like anyone else in the game, leaving would be crucial for my allies and some players leaving them with neutral cities and open borders. So for instance: 2 hours of gameplay is 15 minutes on hold and unallowed to join any other game. I'm just flashing numbers as an example but you can decide later, the important thing is the concept.
- Now if you want to make it fair, Scenario Leavers are suspended from any other scenario for the period of time (discussed in the idea above) however they can join duels, normal games. Normal Game Leavers are suspended from any other normal game and etc..

3- More ideas, rectifications:

- Sanctions should be by IP and not by account, since the trollers can just switch to their alts and continue their trolling. (Updated by MoS)
- Power shutdowns and similar unwanted causes should be differed from the actual leavers. (Updated by Black Hole)
- Sanctions must be even more cruel: suspension and losing SP if leaving a game before week 5-6(300 or 500 SP). (Updated by Cossack)
- There will be a Leaver Ratio which will sanction players who leave a lot (at a high ratio) but will tolerate with the newly leavers (at a low ration). (Updated by Nero)
- A single game can be leaved with no ration affection therefore mapmakers and testers are safe. (Updated by El Fin)
- People who have their percentage of left games about 50% will have a mark/flag next to their names and game hosts will be aware of those players - Hosts are free to kick them or to let them play. (Updated by raetahcodeupon)

4- Voting:

- If you are completely with this idea VOTE YES.
- If you are completely against this idea (you don't want leavers to be sanctioned) VOTE NO.
- If you are partially with this idea (In some points you disagree but in others you agree) VOTE PARTIALLY.

NOTE THAT: Partially votes are counted as YES (but they requested something to be changed and that thing was changed).

What about internet or power shutting off or other causes? Causing them to get sanctioned? Sanctions should be for repeating leavers? You get a smallish sanction for leaving 2 games, and after leaving your 4th game a better sanction, and so on.

Sanction people for leaving more then 1 game within a 40 minute time frame, sanction the IP adress not the account becuase they can just switch to an alt and keep trolling.

It's the same thing as Alt+F4 causes, however atWar staff should be able to limit the sanctions when the "Leave/Quit/Exit" is pressed.

Good point, however it's the atWar staff to decide whether it's IP or account depends on them, but will add this idea.

In the very short time I've played the game I have noticed that many people leave games, especially if they know/ think they're going to lose. It's about time that gamers on all platforms behaved with more character, responsibility, and proper attitudes. I do agree with something being done about it, but also would like a differentiation between bad losers, and gamers leaving for genuine reasons. It also has annoyed me a bit that some have kept changing the game rules! What!!!! In my opinion no game rules should be allowed to changed unless it's for a VERY good reason, or only for a very limited period ie up to turn 5.

I like the idea of leavers being suspended of playing another maps / scenarios, but able to play normal games. Makes sense. But i think sanctions must be even more cruel. Suspension and losing sp if leaving a game before week 5-6(300 or 500 sp).

Yes, I already said that the atWar staff will choose later the SP sanctions etc.. Will add ur idea to the list though

Howabout if the leavers leave a punishment is losing SP and if you dont have any more they take away your upgrades

I apologise :-) I thought that would be answered by what I wrote previously. I vote YES to stopping bad losers, and NO for people leaving a game for genuine reasons ie problems with internet connection/ computer crashing/ some event in real life needing to take them away form computer etc.

the leaver ratio is not accuarate.

most of the map makers have high leaving ratio.

the leaver ratio is not accuarate.

most of the map makers have high leaving ratio.

From now on, single games do not count.
Therefore, if a separate count for this was to be started, there would be no problem.

It should also only count in team/scenario games. When other people are depending on you.

So you're basically telling the newly leavers Hey look you can leave some scenarios until you are called leavers.. The idea is good to get ratio but what about map makers and the actual games they are leaving ? It's still called leavers with or without high ratio and it sucks in both cases.

People have reasons to play a full scenario/game without remaking for a leaver..

Sanctions to leavers?
No.
Basically because most of the times people have a reasonable motive to quit.
If someone trolls by quitting games, that person should be marked with some type of symbol in the name, similar to the mark of moderators, so if for example a player have more than 51% of abandoned games, he have will have a mark in the name and host can decides if he trusth the player or not.

One funny thing of my idea is that some really good players would have this mark, just because they leave the game to dont have lost games.

As you said, some leave before they lose. However I will add this idea of yours, it sounds good to be added.

Mods, i receive an ingame message from BrunoPT that he'll be spamming "No" with guest accounts/alts.

This should apply to all games, except UN games. It's funny when people leave in the UN games.

That's not right.. Please do something he's a damn leaver wishing for this prop to fall.
